Projects cooking...a great casting last Tuesday and Surgical Markers today. Soup for all!

Friday January 20, 2012 by Chef

Of the many great things about our "jobs" is the variety of people and projects we get to serve. This last week has been no different, with a huge span of talent, ages, abilities (I'd not guessed so many ladies in the Soup are flexible yoga practitioners!), clients and industries.

Clients keep coming back to us for great talent because we have, well, GREAT talent. I had the privilege of meeting a number of folks face-to-face for the first time this week and they were all gracious and encouraging. While we love the feedback and hope we are a valuable tool in our talent's toolbox to land work, we never forget who does the real work....our talent.

See, showing up can be really hard. Putting yourself out there day after day, no after no, that's hard. But it's the spark in them that can't be extinguished. I love that and I'm in awe of our talent that can take a "bruising" (figuratively of course) and keep a smile on their face, knowing they'll do it again tomorrow.

There is a huge myth about our business, fueled by the media and unfortunately lots of companies that deceitfully profit on talent, that success, or stardom, is a lightening strike event. Or that it's all about attitude (as in diva). NOTHING could be further from the truth. Like everything in life, success in our business DEMANDS WORK. It's showing up, it's investing in yourself, it's taking the licks from a casting and doing it again, it's NEVER GIVING UP all while knowing you may never be a "success" in this industry...
BUT. YOU. MIGHT.

This quote summarizes what has been true for ages, regardless of who or what the word "success" is being applied to...
“Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.”—Thomas Edison

Thanks Lynne for being available on short notice!

Our flooring client had a quick talent need pop up (shooting in the morning) and chose the lovely Lynne H for the shoot http://tso.to/kD82yN
Luckily she was available! She'll be on set for 2 hours and we'll pay her $520 for her time...the same day as her shoot.

We love our talent. 'Nuff said.
